MEET THE FOUNDER

Hello, I’m Delories Williams!

I am a skilled and enthusiastic professional with more than 30 years of experience in leading teams, facilitating professional development workshops, and training professionals.

After obtaining a BSW and MSW, I worked for the Hattiesburg Public School District for five years before transitioning to the role of Instructor of Social Work at the University of Southern Mississippi. During my 22-year career at Southern Miss, I championed greater diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. I also assisted in building a robust curriculum as the coordinator of the Undergraduate Social Work Program and led effective teams to ensure the success of the program.

Upon retiring from Southern Miss, I was honored with the Instructor Emeritus distinction. Some of my other awards include the 2017 Mississippi/Alabama Educator of the Year Award, the Southern Miss Afro American Student Organization (AASO) 2018 Outstanding Faculty Award, the 2018 AKA Family Strengthening Award, and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) MS 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award.

DWC&T was born out of a desire to partner with various systems, in an effort to plant seeds through creating meaningful, nonjudgmental learning experiences and spaces that were engaging, authentic and spoke to the heads and hearts of participants; to produce real and sustainable change, personally and professionally.

I am currently a member of the USM Black Faculty and Staff Association, an advisory board member with the Salvation Army, and a member of The Pearl River Valley Opportunity Health Services Advisory Committee.

I am a native of Memphis, TN, and was reared in Clarksdale, MS. I currently reside in Hattiesburg, MS. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, traveling, spiritual activities, and spending time with my family.

Enough about me. Tell me about you!
